I have decided that I want to become a hairdresser. I’ve always loved messing with peoples hair; have always done my friends and that; love the way it allows me to express creativity. I went to a carreer expo thing a few weeks ago; and had done my hair up before I left; many of the hairdressing school stalls were asking if I’d had one of the other schools do it; some of them eve gave me their personal number to contact me because they felt just by how I’d done my own hair, that I had that much promise; but these are to proper universities for hairdressing; and I don’t have that kind of money to outlay for it. Is there another way to get into the profession? Wothout going to the universaty first? I mean, I definatly want to go at some point; but I need a job and would love to start first; and have a place train me or something. Is there a way to do this…?
I’m in Aust…

Don’t listen to any of this garbage advise that people are telling you. You learn a job by DOING IT, not by reading a textbook on the subject. I live in NYC. My office is in the Bronx. I get my haircut from Dominican women across the street. Believe me, NONE of them went to school for hairdressing. In fact, some of them may even be illegal aliens. However, I don’t care about these things. The ladies do a nice job on my hair, and I will continue to see them every few weeks.
