Enhances it, because all good gifts come from God. Christians are very creative because they serve the Creator.

I agree with Veritas. Religion has boundaries, spirituality doesn’t.

There is so much art specially during the renaissance devoted to religion that I would argue it enhances it. Though I’m an agnostic/atheist artist I do appreciate all the wonderful religious art work through the centuries.

There is precious little that religion DOESN’T stifle. But creativity is definitely high on the list.

What is in your mind as what type of religion are you referring to?
If you are referring to Christianity it is not a religion.
I want to answer your question but I do not want to get in on it if it is now about how God sets us free and gives us such great gifts just because He loves us. Just like we do with our children. We want them to have it all.
How could God stifle anything in us when He gives us so much freedom in Jesus Christ who paid for sins He did not commit because He is God and did not want us to have to pay for the original sin from Adam and Eve and have to go to hell.
The great part of it is that Adam and Eve’s sin was covered at the same time ours were. 2000 years ago and they are enjoying heaven now with God the Father, Jesus the son of the Living God seated at the right hand of the Father.
The Holy Spirit is still down here with us living inside of those who chose to ask Him to come into their lives.
So if it is religion you are talking about and not Christianity I will just pass on the question.

There are many religions and I do not wish to single any of them out however some religions stifle the creativity amongst its populace and they become a bit backward in their living standards as compared to western civilisation where religion has role but does not control the total way of thinking.

Religion has a major role in the way people communicate. I think it is the political religious zealots that stifles creativity beause they do not want their minions to think for themselves.
